This drink is named after the Hollywood actress, nightclub entertainer, and sex symbol of the 1950s and 60s. Born Vera Jayne Palmer in April 1933, Jayne Mansfield's renown was amplified by her numerous publicity stunts and vibrant personal life. Known as "Hollywood's smartest dumb blonde," she starred in several successful films, received a Golden Globe Award, and made cinematic history in the 1963 sex comedy Promises! Promises!, becoming the first American actress to appear nude in a major film. Her life ended tragically at the age of 34 on 29 June 1967, in a car accident in New Orleans.
