History
Fruity, floral, and a little sweet, with an unfortunate yellow-green hue.
This cocktail was inspired by a drink from Jeff Berry's book, Intoxica. Its origin dates back to 1932 at Havana's Sloppy Joe's Bar in Cuba. The drink was named for the Hollywood actress Joan Bennett, who appeared in the Fox film Careless Lady that same year. Years later, Bennett's personal life made headlines when her husband, the producer Walter Wanger, shot her agent after finding them together.
