Ingredients

1 2/3 oz Vodka
2/3 oz Elderflower liqueur
2/3 oz Lemon juice
5/12 oz Sugar syrup 'rich' (2:1)
3 fresh Basil leaves

How to make

Serve in a coupe glass

Method

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill a COUPE GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of lemongrass stick.
  3. 3 SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  4. 4 FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

Flavour profile

History

Vodka-laced, rich floral elderflower is balanced by lemon's acidity, with basil contributing aromatics.

This is the signature cocktail of the French Experimental Group, established when their first bar opened in Paris in 2007. The Experimental recipe utilizes elderflower cordial instead of elderflower liqueur. However, many elderflower cordials introduce excessive citric acidity alongside the fresh lemon juice.
