History
Calvados shines in this spirit-forward nightcap, perhaps better served on the rocks.
This drink is named for Guglielmo Giovanni Maria Marconi (1874 – 1937), the Italian electrical engineer and inventor credited with developing radio. The recipe appears in Jacques Straub's 1913 Manual of Mixed Drinks. MARCONI COCKTAIL. ⅓ Jigger French Vermouth. ⅔ Jigger Apple Brandy. Shake. The Marconi is also listed in William James "Billy" Tarling's 1937 Café Royal Bar Book. MARCONI ⅓ Martini Sweet Vermouth. ⅔ Calvados. Mix.
