History

Sweet and strong. Vic claimed, "One sip and you may see a Menehune."

This recipe was adapted from Victor Bergeron's 1947-72 publication, Trader Vic's Bartender's Guide. It is said that one cannot perceive a menehune without first imbibing Menehune Juice. Therefore, partake. MENEHUNE JUICE 1 lime ½ ounce orange curaçao ¼ ounce rock candy syrup ¼ ounce orgeat syrup 2 ounces Trader Vic light Puerto Rican rum Squeeze lime juice over shaved ice in a mai tai (double old fashioned) glass; reserve one shell. Add the remaining ingredients and sufficient shaved ice to fill the glass. Perform a hand shake. Garnish with a spent lime shell, fresh mint, and a menehune.
