Ingredients

1 oz Bourbon whiskey
1 oz Fernet liqueur
3/4 oz Lemon juice
5/12 oz Sugar syrup 'rich' (2:1)

How to make

Serve in a old-fashioned glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill an OLD-FASHIONED GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of mint sprigs.

Method

  1. 3 SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  2. 4 STRAIN into glass filled with crushed ice.

Garnish

  1. 5 Garnish with mint sprigs bouquet.

History

This digestivo is ideal after a hearty meal. The first sips may be challenging for those unaccustomed to fernet, but this refreshing cocktail then becomes eminently sippable and stomach-settling.

This drink is adapted from one created by Sam Ross at Attaboy in New York City, USA. Ross's original recipe used equal parts (3/4oz each) of lemon juice and a 1:1 sugar syrup. The recipe has been adjusted to use a richer 2:1 sugar syrup.
