Ingredients

1 fresh Lemon peel
8 fresh Mint leaves
1 oz Cognac (brandy)
1 oz Tawny port
1/4 oz Maraschino liqueur

How to make

Serve in a old-fashioned glass

  1. 1 PLACE lemon zest and mint in shaker
  2. 2 Add other ingredients, SHAKE with ice and fine strain into ice-filled glass.

History

Mint, cognac, port, lemon and maraschino subtly contribute to this Cuban take on Mexico.

This recipe was adapted from the 1937 menu of Bar Florida, which was later renamed Floridita, in Havana, Cuba. The Julep's contentious history and its variants are discussed on our page.
