History
Old Tom gin's full flavour adds an extra dimension to this classic Gin Fizz. This is likely the original Gin Fizz.
This is said to be the original name and recipe for the Ramos Gin Fizz, created in 1888 by Henry C. Ramos at the Imperial Cabinet Saloon, located at the corner of Gravier and Carondelet Streets in New Orleans. Today, a New Orleans Gin Fizz is made with Old Tom gin, whereas a Ramos Gin Fizz uses London Dry gin. While the modern Ramos Gin Fizz consistently includes added rose water and sometimes vanilla essence, the New Orleans Gin Fizz typically relies on Old Tom gin for its distinct flavor profile.
