Ingredients

2 oz Scotch whisky
3/4 oz Elderflower liqueur

How to make

Serve in a old-fashioned glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill an OLD-FASHIONED GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of lemon zest twist.

Method

  1. 3 STIR all ingredients with ice.
  2. 4 STRAIN into ice-filled glass.

Garnish

  1. 5 EXPRESS lemon zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

History

Peaty Scotch whisky complements floral elderflower liqueur.

At the time of its creation, the author was involved in the launch of St-Germain, and Xav served as the brand ambassador for Monkey Shoulder whisky. The initial recipe used equal parts of the ingredients, as the goal was to promote St-Germain. The adjustment to reduce the amount of liqueur, allowing the Scotch to be more prominent, was developed by the team at Le Lion in Hamburg, Germany. They also use single malt Scotch in their version, which they have fittingly renamed a 'Single Padovani'.
