Ingredients

1 1/2 oz Pisco
1/2 oz Red bitter liqueur
3/4 oz Rosso/sweet vermouth
1/2 oz Bénédictine D.O.M.
1/2 oz Lemon juice
1 oz Soda water

How to make

Serve in a collins glass

  1. 1 SHAKE first five ingredients with ice and strain into ice-filled glass
  2. 2 TOP with soda.

History

This cocktail honors Domingo Ghirardelli, the founder of the Ghirardelli Chocolate Company. Ghirardelli, who was born in Italy, established a successful confectionery business in Peru before migrating to San Francisco during the gold rush. He went on to found Ghirardely & Girard, which later became the Ghirardelli Chocolate Company and has been in operation since 1852. Ghirardelli played a role in the development of San Francisco, and his company is closely associated with the city. Ghirardelli Square, built by his company, has been a designated city landmark since 1965.

This drink is adapted from the signature cocktail of San Francisco Cocktail Week, held from September 21-27, 2010.
