History

This gin-based cocktail highlights the quality of the apricot liqueur. Off-dry rather than sweet.

The Paradise Cocktail first appeared in Harry McElhone's 1922 book, Harry's ABC of Mixing Cocktails, with equal parts dry gin, apricot brandy, and orange juice. A better formulation was presented in Harry Craddock's 1930 The Savoy Cocktail Book. PARADISE COCKTAIL. 1 Dash Lemon Juice. ¼ Orange Juice. ½ Gin. ¼ Apricot Brandy. Shake well and strain into cocktail glass.
