History
This classic 2:1:1 Margarita recipe is slightly sour for some; consider adding 5ml agave or sugar syrup.
This cocktail is identical to a classic Margarita. It was first published in William J. "Billy" Tarling's 1937 Café Royal Bar Book, 16 years prior to the earliest known written mention of a Margarita. PICADOR ¼ fresh Lime of Lemon Juice. ¼ Cointreau. ½ Tequila. Shake. It is theorized that an American copied this British recipe, subsequently naming the Margarita. A page is available that explores the Margarita's history and the various claims made.
