Ingredients

1 oz Reposado tequila
1 oz Blanco tequila
1/2 oz Orange Curaçao
3/4 oz Lime juice
1/3 oz Orgeat syrup
1/6 oz Agave syrup
1/12 oz Grenadine syrup
2 drop Saline solution 4:1

How to make

Serve in a double old-fashioned glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill a DOUBLE OLD-FASHIONED GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of mint sprigs bouquet and fruit stick (skewered pineapple cubes and Luxardo Maraschino Cherry).

  1. 3 SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  2. 4 STRAIN into glass filled with crushed ice.

History

A tequila-based Mai Tai variation created by Victor Bergeron, the original Mai Tai's creator.

Victor Bergeron, also known as "Trader Vic," created this Tiki standard in 1964 for his Señor Pico restaurant. His 1972 Trader Vic's Bartender's Guide includes this cocktail, marked with the 'TV' logo to signify it as a Trader Vic original. PINKY GONZALES 1½ ounces Trader Vic's Mai Tai mix 1½ ounces Tequila Pour into mixing glass ¾ filled with ice cubes. Shake well. Pour into mai tai glass. Decorate with mint sprig. Serve with straws.
