History
Go easy on the bitters for a delicate, aromatic pisco cocktail.
David Wondrich, a historian of drinks, is thanked once more for bringing this cocktail and its story to light. The drink was invented by Jim Maloney, a bartender, and it made its first appearance in his 1903 book, How to Mix Drinks. Maloney had previously secured a patent for the term 'Bell-Ringers,' which he used to describe cocktails prepared in glasses that had been rinsed with apricot brandy.
