Ingredients

1 1/2 oz Scotch whisky
1/2 oz Banana liqueur
1/3 oz Red bitter liqueur
1 dash Saline solution 4:1

How to make

Serve in a double old-fashioned

  1. 1 STIR all ingredients with ice and strain into ice-filled glass (preferably over a large chunk of block ice).

History

A banana-forward variation on a Scotch Negroni, with crème de banana sweetness offset by bitterness and a hint of salt. Suitable as an aperitif or digestif.

Created in 2018 by Josh Davies at The Hedonist Project in Leeds, England, this cocktail was originally based on Chivas 12 Year Old Scotch. It was developed for the 2018 Chivas Masters Competition held in London. Josh's initial preparation involved serving this drink over a large ice cube in a coupe glass. Given that placing a large piece of ice in a delicate coupe seems incongruous, the preparation has been adjusted to use an old-fashioned glass.
