Ingredients

1 1/3 oz Tsipouro
1 1/6 oz Manzanilla sherry
1/4 oz Falernum liqueur
2 dash Creole bitters
1 drop Saline solution 4:1

How to make

Serve in a nick & nora glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill a NICK & NORA GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of lime zest twist.

Method

  1. 3 STIR all ingredients with ice.
  2. 4 FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

Garnish

  1. 5 Express lime zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

History

Pale pink, this drink's falernum spice complements tsipouro and sherry's vinous character.

This drink, adapted from a recipe by Kostas Petropoulos at Lou.Ki Bar in Komotini, Greece, was among the ten winning entries in the 2021 O/Purist Quest. The name Red Echo is derived from the Greek word 'ēchō.' Kostas stated, "My inspiration comes from a quote: 'Life is an echo. What you send out comes back. What you sow you reap.' From Greece to the rest of the world, tsipouro has come a long way. O/Purist Tsipouro seems to be a strong advocate voice for the globalization of our national spirit, let us, the Greek bartending community, be the Echo!"
