History

Bittersweet and Martini-like but with smoothed edges and a hint of eastern spice. Perhaps a digestivo.

James Bond's preferred Martini, the Vesper, was named after the fictional Russian agent Vesper Lynd. This cocktail is a 'Reversed' take, featuring a significantly higher proportion of aromatised wines. Appropriately, it blends Eastern and Western European components with the inclusion of Becherovka. Becherovka's presence suggests tonic water, as seen in the Be-ton cocktail. Initially, this drink was made with 5ml of homemade pomegranate syrup to provide a much-needed sweetness, intended to balance the bitterness of kina and serve as a blood-like syrup. Substituting commercial grenadine resulted in excessive color and flavor; therefore, the current recipe uses equal parts sugar and grenadine syrup.
