Rock & Rye is a general term for a traditional American liqueur made with a rye whiskey base, infused with fruit and sugar, and often bottled with fruit pieces. This cocktail is inspired by the flavor profile of one such liqueur: Jacquin's Rock & Rye, produced by Charles Jacquin et Cie Inc., identified as "America's Oldest Cordial Producer" until approximately 2009. Traditionally, a "Rock & Rye Cocktail" incorporates rock & rye liqueur as an ingredient. For instance, Stanley M. Jones' 1977 Jones' Complete Barguide features a Rock & Rye Cocktail, a Rock & Rye Cooler, and a Rock & Rye Toddy, all of which utilize rock & rye liqueur. ROCK & RYE COCKTAIL.
