Ingredients

1 2/3 oz Rye whiskey 50% abv
1/2 oz Orange juice
1/6 oz Lemon juice
1/4 oz Maraschino syrup
1/4 oz Sugar syrup 'rich' (2:1)

How to make

Serve in a old-fashioned glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill an OLD-FASHIONED GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of orange zest twist and skewered Luxardo Maraschino Cherry.

Method

  1. 3 SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  2. 4 STRAIN into ice-filled glass.

Garnish

  1. 5 EXPRESS orange zest twist over cocktail and discard.
  2. 6 Garnish with skewered cherry.

Rock & Rye is a general term for a traditional American liqueur made with a rye whiskey base, infused with fruit and sugar, and often bottled with fruit pieces. This cocktail is inspired by the flavor profile of one such liqueur: Jacquin's Rock & Rye, produced by Charles Jacquin et Cie Inc., identified as "America's Oldest Cordial Producer" until approximately 2009. Traditionally, a "Rock & Rye Cocktail" incorporates rock & rye liqueur as an ingredient. For instance, Stanley M.
