Prepare
- 1 Select and pre-chill a NICK & NORA GLASS.
- 2 Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.
Method
- 3 STIR all ingredients with ice.
- 4 FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.
Garnish
- 5 EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

History
The proportions have been reduced by one-third; less is more with richly flavoured spirituous cocktails.
This drink is based on a 2025 creation by J. E. Clapham of Clapham Cocktails, which itself was adapted from a recipe found in William "Cocktail Bill" Boothby's 1930 book, Swallows : World's Drinks And How To Mix Them. ROSE Gin . . . . . . . . ½ jigger Kirschwasser . . . . . . . . ¼ jigger Cherry Brandy . . . . . . . . ¼ jigger This is to be stirred with ice, then strained into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a Maraschino cherry and a twist of lemon peel over the top before serving. ROSE COCKTAIL. (FRENCH STYLE No. 2) ¼ Cherry Brandy. ¼ Kirsch. ½ Dry Gin. Stir this mixture well and strain it into a cocktail glass.
