History

The drink is autumnal in colour; rum is prominent, with lime freshness balanced by rich pomegranate, all smoothed and made fluffy by egg white.

This recipe comes from Charlie Conolly's 1939 book, The World Famous Cotton Club: Book of Mixed Drinks. The September Morn calls for 2 ounces of rum, the juice of half a lime, 1 teaspoon of grenadine syrup, and 1 egg white. All ingredients should be shaken with cracked ice and strained into a cocktail glass.
