Ingredients
2 oz Bourbon whiskey
1 bag Cold Lapsang Souchong
1/4 oz Maple syrup
2 dash Boker's style bitters
How to make
Serve in a old-fashioned glass
Prepare
- 1 Select and pre-chill an OLD-FASHIONED GLASS.
- 2 Prepare garnish of lemon zest twist.
Method
- 3 STIR half the bourbon, tea bag and four ice cubes in glass for 60 seconds.
- 4 Remove tea bag, add maple syrup and bitters, and STIR some more.
- 5 Add more ice and the rest of the bourbon and STIR some more.
Garnish
- 6 EXPRESS lemon zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.
History
Lapsang souchong flavours and dry tannins balanced by maple syrup, fortified with bourbon.
Created in 2011 by Craig Toone at Glovers Bar in Merseyside, England. He states that the name "'Smoky' obviously refers to the distinctive tea flavour and the bastard refers to the bastardisation of the classic drink [Old Fashioned]."
