Ingredients

1 2/3 oz Bourbon whiskey
5/6 oz Amaretto liqueur

How to make

Serve in a old-fashioned glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill an OLD-FASHIONED GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.

Method

  1. 3 STIR all ingredients with ice.
  2. 4 STRAIN into ice-filled glass.

Garnish

  1. 5 EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

History

Amaretto brilliantly enriches bourbon. Two ingredients are preferred over adding bitters.

Adapted from a recipe in Stanley M. Jones' 1977 Jones' Complete Barguide, this version of "The Boss" is prepared in an Old Fashioned glass by building the ingredients: "1-1/2 oz Bourbon" and "1/2 oz Amaretto". It is then filled with ice.
