History
As expected for a Sazerac, The JP is boozy, with rich cognac smoothing spicy rye.
Elliot Ball of the Cocktail Trading Company is credited with bringing this drink to notice and shared the following account of its conception and naming. A number of years ago, a close friend and accomplished bartender, known to those present as 'JP' following a few too many Sazeracs, characterized his sexual orientation as "75/25" – meaning that for every three liaisons with men, he felt compelled to seek balance through intimacy with a woman. His companions, unfortunately for him, were entirely lucid and thus retained the memory of this remarkably offensive description of his romantic preferences. Consequently, they devised the 75/25 Sazerac (three parts fruity, one straight) in his honor. It has since been abbreviated to the JP Sazerac, a fond tribute to a dear friend's regrettable turn of phrase. It also happens to be an exceptionally tasty Sazerac.
