History

A classic Margarita enhanced with a hint of vanilla.

Vanilla Margaritas were first encountered in 1998 at London's Café Pacifico, where many were consumed. Vanilla Daiquiris (VDQs) were also enjoyed at Teatro on Shaftesbury Avenue, often on the same evening. Café Pacifico, an early evening establishment, used tequila infused with a vanilla pod, while Teatro, a venue for concluding a night, featured vanilla-infused Havana 3yo rum. Even before this, vanilla shakes from McDonald's and vanilla ice-cream were enjoyed. Vanilla is a widely appreciated flavor. While Vanilla Margaritas were once prepared similarly to regular Margaritas, using vanilla-infused tequila in the style of Café Pacifico, a suggestion from Vincent Dufour on December 5th, 2020, led to the development of this improved recipe, which is also excellent when made with vanilla-infused tequila.
