Ingredients

1 1/2 oz Vodka
3/4 oz Kirschwasser
1 1/2 oz Orange juice

How to make

Serve in a martini glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill a MARTINI GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.

Method

  1. 3 SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  2. 4 FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

Garnish

  1. 5 EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

This recipe is adapted from David Embury's seminal work, The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks. The name of the cocktail is inspired by Cecil B. De Mille's grand, and perhaps slightly flamboyant, film production. The movie itself was named after a Russian folk song that celebrates the Volga, which is known as Europe's longest river.
