Ingredients

1 oz Gin
1/2 oz Kummel liqueur
1/2 oz Maraschino liqueur
1 oz Pink grapefruit juice

How to make

Serve in a coupe glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill a COUPE GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of Luxardo Maraschino Cherry.

Method

  1. 3 SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  2. 4 FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

Garnish

  1. 5 Garnish with maraschino cherry.

History

Close to an Aviation. Depending on the grapefruit juice, this "Special" might be slightly sweet, but it is fantastically aromatic. Adjust grapefruit juice if too sweet.

This recipe is an adaptation of one that first appeared in the 1937 Café Royal Bar Book, authored by William James "Billy" Tarling. "WEEKLY SPECIAL 1/3 Grapefruit Juice. 1/3 Gin. 1/6 Maraschino. 1/6 Wolfschmidt Kummel. Shake and serve with a cherry."
