Oh snap…first review. I will do my best to give it justice. Nose is quite inviting with gooey nougat (think the middle of a Three Musketeers bar) white grape, berry, milk chocolate, caramel, and relatively soft oak. Ethanol exceptionally low. Digging it. Palate sadly loses some of the candy notes from the nose but still brings fruit in the form of Concord grape and blackberry jam along with vanilla, a hint of the milk chocolate promised in the nose, oak, and allspice. Flavors have some decent depth but not the most complex whiskey. A little “bright” and “tight”; hopefully that makes sense. Medium length finish brings cinnamon, black pepper, bitter oak, and sadly; unattenuated alcohol. There is a youngish sharpness/bite that the finishing can’t quite hide. Mouthfeel is pretty velvety which is quite welcoming. A decent effort here from 1792 and I found things to like but overall the young whiskey cannot be ignored. At $49.99 the price is perfectly acceptable, but I think there are better offerings in the price range such as HH 7 year, Henry McKenna 10, or EHT small batch. An interesting experience, but one that ultimately falls short of a rebuy.
