I bought this bottle to add to my Christmas wassail so I wasn't too concerned with the quality of the brandy. I started to get curious though, what can you taste in a $10 bottle of brandy? The nose feels right, its very heavy and full of sweet dried fruit flavors. The palate isn't nearly as enjoyable and is dominated by harsh vanilla notes. The finish is even worse with a wet mop and sour fruit flavor that you cant seem to get off your tongue. If you're looking for a brandy to sip on, look elsewhere. I'm not trying to be too harsh though, as this stuff mixes well and is very affordable.

Reviews

1889 Royal has a clear, caramel appearance. The aroma is of white grape skins. The flavor is of sugar cream, pronounced vanilla, and a whisper of tannins. 1889 Royal has a low-medium body and a semi-sweet finish. RJT
Upon further inspection, itβs not the best in the world like how everybody on the block said itβs good for a brandy has kick at first and smooth at the end but it was just ok
This is good for the price. I'd prefer the same light vanilla notes in a rum or a bourbon ... something with a little more bit. But for 9.99, I'll take a value brandy.
This is an on the rocks rating. Never added anything to it π
-not bad strong but smooth, everybody on the block loves it
