Aberfeldy 16 Year Madeira Cask Finish

Aberfeldy is as fruity as it can be. The standard core range of 12, 18 and 21 are super fruity, as in fresh fruits. Apples and pears, your typical standard whisky. This expression, finished in madeira casks, gave it a twist... still fruity but tropical ones. Bottled at 40%abv, golden color. On the nose, amazing. Fruit salad, apples, pears, cinnamon, currants, pineapple, very tropical, like having a piña colada in a caribbean beach. On the palate, it gets more sweet in an artificial/sugary way, keeping some of the tropical fruitiness. Toffee, dulce de leche, oranges, pineapple and coconut. Aftertaste is not as good, but still manages to pass the test. Coconut and hay. Coconut milk. Overall this is a very refreshing, easy drinkable dram. Pretty nice actually. 89 over 100.

Nose: really excellent, very evident Madeira, raisins, caramel, almond, honey. Palate: velvety! Madeira and raisins masters of the field, light candied oranges, cinnamon, honey. Medium short and slightly bitter finish. I am not a fan of travel retail, but here I find a very drinkable product of excellent quality, better than the Aberfeldy 21yo. Rating 4.25 ________________________________________________________ Naso: veramente ottimo, Madeira molto evidente, uvetta, caramello, mandorlato, miele. Palato: vellutato! Madeira ed uvette padroni del campo, leggere arance candite, cannella, miele. Finale medio breve ed un po’ amarognolo. Non sono fan dei travel retail, ma qui trovo un prodotto molto bevibile e di ottima qualità, migliore del Aberfeldy 21yo. Voto 4,25

Opens up during the third glass. It presents itself as stronger than 40% and has a nice medium lenght finish. Would have given it a higher rating but for some reason the long aging process has not completely smoothed its ethanol bite.

Nose: pile of raked leaves, dried raisins, natural honey, ripe pear, vanilla cola, buttery toffee Palate: caramel and rum and raisin ice cream Finish: sweet

Sweet, slight plastic nose. The palette is smooth, sweet, sherried, licorice, woody, and oily. The finish is very short, sweet, and woody.
