An elegant, Single Malt Scotch Whisky by Ardmore Distillery in Speyside, Scotland matured in refill Bourbon barrels for a minimum of 9 years; bottled at 46% ABV by Alexander Murray out of California. It has an aromatic birth with notes of fruits, flowers, dried herbs, earth & smoke; a complex life adds notes of campfire smoke, honeyed citrus, apple, grilled lemon, orange zest, mint, vanilla pod, caramel, brown sugar, toasted nuts & spicy oak; that led to a long & smoky death with notes of tobacco & leather. Nose - smoked brown sugar bacon, some rich caramel and juicy fresh fruit Taste - silky, sweet and rich, fruit juice and vanilla, a bit of caramel, hardly and smoke notes in the taste Finish - rich fruit juice quickly fades to light smoke, light burn
Lightly Smokey at the front warm at the back, some sweet mixed in there. Not bad at all. A bit on the sweet side for a daily driver, at least for my palette.
I’m happy to finish this straight but I wouldn’t buy this for myself. Smoke and wood on the front end, lingering smoke, fruit and spice in the finish.
