Nose - I haven’t smelled anything like this! Hits with so much sweetness, but so much dampness. Like a wet carpet or old cabin. I get bananas, papayas, grapes, cloves, feels so heavy! So excited to try! Tongue - so sweet, sugar syrup, dessert red wine, molasses, heavy mouth feel. Spicy probably due to youth. So oily, i get hints of peat, but mild. The sherry influence is strong and beautiful! Very punchy as well! Thoroughly surprised and really looking forward what this distillery has in store in the future.
About this bottle
Corriecravie is a core expression from LAGG Distillery, a heavily peated distillery from the Isle of Arran Distillers. This single malt was first matured in ex-bourbon barrels before being finished in oloroso sherry hogshead casks sourced from Miguel Martin in Jerez. It was bottled at 55% ABV without added color or chill-filtration. LAGG is named after the last legally founded distillery on Arran, which closed in 1837. Initially released in the UK in summer 2023, it's available in the US beginning June 2024. (SRP $99.99/700ml)

This is what a new distillery is supposed to do! Beautifully done, the peat is bery subdued and only shows it head after sitting out for a while. But the dark fruit is flying at you on the nose and palate. Definitely need another pour to get better tasting notes! But great impressions on first dram.
Sherried nose then smoky peppery blast, bbq, rich yet elegant, like Ledaig 18 but more peppery, fantastic dram!
This is a sweet peater whiskey. Like smoked brulee and toffee. It’s yummy! Inwish I could find it easier.
Lovely balance of peat and dark fruit
Trevligt whisky med rökig eftersmak.
