Nose is full of apple, a bit ethanolly. I get a lot of sweet early elements. Brown sugar Caramel, vanilla, and some of that apple. Honestly, the most unique part of this pour is that I’d actually drinks pretty cold. It’s at room temperature, but it seems chilled. Pretty harsh bite, especially for under 100 proof. However this is made up with a great warm and long finish. A little char and some clear oak at this point. Slight tobacco. Honestly it grew on me throughout the drink and the harshness improved. Will have to taste again after a primer.
Carmel and vanilla on the nose and palate. Nice mouthfeel and a long lingering hug. 8/27/22 - No noticeable difference from my first taste. Maybe a bit thinner, but still flavorful. Spicy hug is still present. Good, but probably don’t need to repurchase this one. 10/15/22 - Brought this along to share on a campout. Happy to say that this bottle has really improved, and have enjoyed it this weekend. Definitely better that ‘good’. Though still not sure I need to have this on the shelf all the time.
Aroma - brown sugar, almonds, apples, pears, pie crust baking spices. Sweet profile, quite a nice balance Taste - This is pretty good. Getting quite a bit of those same notes from the nose here. Big brown sugar, apples, berries and a slight spice. There’s a touch of old oak on the backend which really brings this into balance. Extremely smooth. Overall - above average at its price point. Really nice blend.. Definitely getting more of those younger 3 year whiskeys than the 12 years.
Caramel, vanilla and apple are the primary scents I pick up on the nose. Very subtle tones of cinnamon as I dig deeper. Initial sip is sweet and has notes of the apple and caramel present from the nose. Palate evolves to a rye spice and oak finish that introduces a good amount of heat that lingers for quite a while. Nice combination of sweet and heat that makes for an enjoyable experience.
Dark straw in color, sparse, slow moving legs. Nose shows a fair contribution of rye: green apple, golden raisins, toast, vanilla, light caramel and a bit of clove. Soft, but warm, ... Creamed corn and butterscotch give way to toasted oak and butter pecan ice cream, and notes of raspberries. There's a hint of malt sneaking in through every aspect. This is just superbly drinkable!
