Barrell Bourbon Batch 003 is a Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey distilled from a mash bill of 70% corn, 25% rye, and 5% malted barley. It's bottled at a cask strength of 61% ABV after aging 5 years in new, charred American oak.

Batch 003 seems to vary a little; mine is bottle 679, 52.65% ABV. At 105.3 proof, benefits from drinking with an ice cube to let it open up. Nose has hints of cherry, vanilla and fresh whipped cream. Palate has light peach sweetness before the alcohol kicks in; texture is thick and buttery. Finish has a little baking spices and shows some of the port/sherry barrel finishing it underwent.

Smooth and spicy at the same time. Strong rye notes. Very drinkable for the proof (122 proof). Finish is short. 5/24/19
