Another very good whiskey from a team that's nailed blending some very good whiskey at this point. Nose is an interesting mixture of vanilla, black cherries, and a little cinnamon. This full-throated whiskey hits the palate with a rush of flavor and some heat, though its pretty docile by barrel proof standards. Rich, thick mouthfeel and notes of baking spices, vanilla, cereal, cinnamon and butterscotch, with just a hint of the cherry I smelled on the nose. The drier and spicier notes linger a while on the finish. Overall this didn't floor me like some prior releases I've tried, but it's a refined and rich-tasting sip worth it's MSRP.

Another sure fire winner from the folks at Barrell. This expression has a definite chewiness with a round and tobacco leaf like character. Slightly fruity with elements of stewed prune, apricot and baked pear. All of this is tied together with a pecan pie flavor profile. Even at full proof, this is one smooth bourbon. add a gentle splash of branch water and it opens up into a very easy going and elegant spirit. At once sweet, it also has the self assuredness of an seasoned statesman. We look forward to Batch 33!
NOSE Oak, dried dark fruit, toffee, baking spice, bran muffins and a touch biscuity with some vanilla frosting. The oak sits heavy but balanced by the dark sweet notes that glide through. PALATE OAK, dried dark fruit, roasted corn, nuts, baking spice, red and black licorice with a bit of bran muffin and waxy vanilla. This is a heavy brooding whiskey with a TON of grain presence. Wow. FINISH Long -> Spice, oak, dried dark fruit and waxy vanilla taffy.
Supple, sweet and spicy, initial hit of tropical fruits becomes a mix of apple, strawberry and banana Laffy Taffy. There’s oakiness, caramel, vanilla custard, tobacco, heavily buttered wheat toast, baking spices and faint stone fruits. Long and drying finish with cinnamon, fruit, taffy and oak. Solid, interesting whiskey, I get a little different set of notes with each taste.
Nose: a spring meadow covered in fallen wood from winter. Some apple and young strawberries Taste: An amazing fresh baked cinnamon buttered cookie. So creamy and full of flavor. A bit of spiced apple and tobacco on the back end. Finish: nice and long leaving the lingering apple spice and nice oily coated mouth. Really enjoyed this one. My highest rated whiskey so far.
One of my favorites on shelf; high proof very apparent up front but doesn't overwhelm rich profile; creamy and tropical profile; layers of spice and nuttiness; consistently solid through tasting experience; intense and interesting fruit flavors. Blend of straight bourbons of 5, 6, 7, 10 years blended over 3 months.
