Tried this one along with the other select expressions at the distillery. The XO was my least favorite but I couldn’t decide if I like this or the Madeira better. I ended up buying the bottle of Madeira finished simply for the fact that the finish is less common. If they weren’t so expensive I definitely would have grabbed both, this was an outstanding pour that sips very easily given the ABV!
Ok so for sure it’s a sherry bomb... but it’s incredibly smooth (and at 103 proof) a little hot on the tongue. The character is complex and definitely bottle-worthy. If you can find this, and you love sherry casks, get yourself a bottle or two.
Barrel #4477 Missouri Bottle This is a sherry bomb from nose to finish. I enjoyed the retail version at 90 proof, but its sherry influence is more restrained than this Select Cask. The bourbon takes a back seat.
