Bourbon Enthusiast pick. Lovely nose of sweet honey, followed by subtle rye spice and candy licorice. Palate is rich and sweet. Strawberry syrup and pecans. Some classic bourbon notes. Finish is shorter than expected, but still savery. Not your everyday bottle, but a good one nonetheless.
About this bottle
Belle Meade Select Cask expressions are single cask releases so expect variations in proof and flavor as is the nature of such releases. The bourbon is sourced from MGP with a mash bill of 64% corn, 30% rye, and 6% malted barley that was fully matured for up to 7 years in new, charred oak. It was then finished in ex-Fine Champagne XO cognac casks made from Limousin oak.

"Solid Sunday sipper. High proof with decent flavor (spice, nut, vanilla) to accompany its moderate proof. I am not an expert on cognac, but I can certainly tasted the cognac finish. Interesting flavor for those that like to try new things. "
Tasting neat: Nose is almost nonexistent. Palate is smooth and rich, a nice blend of caramel and vanilla and slight wood. Finishes with a bit of a alcohol bite.
Rich aarons with hints of berries, and a lovely sweetness. Caramel, vanilla, oak, and dark berries in the flavor. Well matured, and complex.
Rich and velvet, no bite, strong chocolate, and honeysweet finish not enough flavor and complexity for the price
Decent Bourbon but its very mild in offering any real memorable flavor profile from the Cognac FINISH.
