A very malt forward nose… no surprise there. A bit musty yet ultimately sweet, like wet hay. I also detect some cocoa butter, a hint of vanilla, and cookie dough. Spicy on the palate, especially once it hits the back of the throat, yet equally sweet. There is cracked pepper, ginger powder, and a pinch of cinnamon, as well as Asian pear jelly, honey, and a bit of white chocolate. The texture is slick, even a little oily, and medium-full bodied. In the glass, a swirl generates quick yet neat and fairly uniform legs with well defined teardrops. The finish is slightly bitter, oaky, and lengthy though mild. Baking spices give way to grassy tannins and cigar papers. A little water calms the spice and elevates the sweetness. Aroma: 8 Taste: 9 Body: 9 Finish: 8
