The first batch Benromach noses sweet like fresh raisins with a pleasant vanilla aroma. I detect somewhat of an orange. On the palate the whisky becomes thick and oily and unravels the sherry cask beautifully. Very pure in its salty, sherry flavor. It is up until the finish that the bodied peat starts to talk. When combined with dorblue cheese, two grades of salt melt together with the roamy cheese taste. Perfect companion! (Tasted at Breda & Gin Breda.)

Strange how my palate changes over time. Now this bottle has been open for 10 months and though I still enjoy the flavors I am experienceing the strong alchohol burn of a young whiskey. In comparison I have had much better older whiskies (at double the price )with hardly any alchohol burn and they have a special place in my heart! I have Batch 3 arriveing tomorrow so look forward to comparing side by side!
Nose is toffeee at a bonfire. Sweet caramel and smoke The palate is rich and drying woth a blast of balck pepper before ending with the almost bitterness of dark chocolate I find the finish short but thats where the smoke kicks in but doesnt over stay its welcome
Another freebie pre old and rare tasting. Really nice dram, was up to 4.25 no water until i compared it to the old and rare selection. For the price still deserves the rating but overall tasted a lot younger and ethanolly in comparison. 3.75 to 4
Opened on 1-21-2020 and todays tasting is 6-25-2020. This 2nd tasteing at a much higher score shows how some (if not most) whiskies can open up to a much better flavor profile after some oxidation to the bottle occurs..........Its very good now.
Man this is good. Golden raisin vanilla nose with a lightly Peated spicy orange taste. Kinda acridiney finish but I don’t mind it. Very oily! Great pour
