Black Button Pre-Prohibition Style Straight Bourbon

An intense, grain-to-glass, American Straight Bourbon Whiskey by Jason Barrett founder of Black Button Distilling in Rochester, New York. It is crafted with a mash bill of 80% Corn, 10% Malted Barley & 10% Rye; then aged for 5 years in American white oak barrels. It has an aromatic birth of grains, wood, fruit, nuts & spices; while a bold life adds notes of caramel apple, butterscotch, toffee & brown sugar; that led to a spicy death of medium length with notes of black pepper, oak, cinnamon, vanilla, walnut & cedar. Tastes stronger than 46%, it's got fire and kick. Not unpleasant though, there's strong vanilla caramel sweetness, accented with wheat and malty cereal flavors. Medium thin body, tail disappears pretty quickly but I think that's the burn eating it. Good, enjoyable, but unbalanced.

So this one kinda has that dry, sandpapery texture after it sits on your tongue for a moment. Lots of interesting flavors however on the backend almost reminiscent of a cigar. Upfront i think im getting some oak as this feels like a very young bourbon.

Vanilla, toffee, and brown sugar on the nose. Rich butterscotch and caramel on the palate. There's a baking spice throughout. It has a long, sweet finish with a black pepper spice in the end.

Clear amber body medium legging. Sweet caramel toffee pepper aroma. Toffee pepper nutty spicy flavor. Medium light body moderately low warming. 8/3/8/4/17 4.0
