I’ve had some port barrel finished bourbons and they’ve been pretty good. Thankfully, I was able to try this as a sample instead of purchasing it to try. The nose, well, there was no nose. This was the craziest thing. I tried this with a friend and both of us couldn’t pick anything up at all. First bourbon that had nothing to offer before hitting the palate. Palete hit and this was cherry, blackberry medicine. It was the cough syrup my mom used to make me drink back in the day. The finish had some sweetness to it but all I could taste was the medicinal flavor. It was so powerful that everything else faded away. I’m extremely thankful I was able to try this before wasting any money. I would consider this a drain pour. Quite terrible and I hate saying that about any bourbon. I will definitely not be purchasing this. Scale .25

A rich, Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey by Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky finished for 15 months in Ruby Port Barrels & bottled at 90 proof. It opens with notes of dried & red fruits, wood, herbs & spices; while a rich life adds notes of apple, mixed berry jam, toasted oak, caramel, star anise & vanilla; that leads to a balanced death of medium length. June / July 2022
Nose - cherries and spice, little bit of baking spices. It’s a little hot in the beginning - the cherry cola taste is powerful, you do get a lot of vanilla in the finish. It’s 90 proof and feels a bit mild but overall it’s a really nice bottle. Something I look forward to trying again and again.
Blackberry nose. Harsh beginning. Burn. Spicy and the nice finish. Complex bourbon. Vanilla ending. Not bad. Heard same mash as Angels Envy. I like AE better
Was told this was comparable with Angel’s Envy Finished Rye. Not even close for me. Not bad, but I will not buy it again.
Nose: not aggressive, cherry syrup Palate: very light sweet subtle flavor Finish: charred oak with slight cherry flavor
