When in Memphis, why not pick up a Memphis bourbon? Well, it's finished in Memphis anyway. From my quick research I found that this starts it's life in Indiana as a minimum 4 year MGP bourbon. This is supposed to be 35% rye, but it has little in the way of spice, just a hint of cinnamon. Super smooth, and even more so considering it's 100 proof, which is several points higher than many other toasted oak offerings. It's sweet, but not overly so, with notes of caramel and toasted marshmallow. The oak is prevalent, but not overwhelming. This one has great balance. No bitter aftertaste, and very easy drinking. It's not very complex and could be a little spicier, but otherwise this is quite tasty. After my first taste, I would say this is competitive with some of my favorite double oaked/toasted oak bourbons.

I’ve seen this quite a bit and always wanted to try it. Thankfully, I had a chance to try a pour without buying a bottle. The nose was sweet with a real ethanol burn. Being only 100 proof, I didn’t expect that much of an ethanol burn from the nose. The palate confused the ethanol taste with some earthy notes and then a little cinnamon. I wasn’t feeling this and the finish confirmed my opinion. The finish was a ton of earthy oak notes with a little sweetness. The ethanol burn confused through which was probably my least favorite aspect of this bottle. I was hoping for more flavor, however this is only a $40 bottle. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this bottle. Just wasn’t my pour.

3rd time trying, first time review. Enjoying neat after rested 10 minutes Nose - ethanol burn, bland, woodsy. Taste - cherries up front then quickly leads to a nice oak flavor. Spiciness with a slight burn, light maple and caramel. This one is a spicy maple caramel oak. Reminds me of old forester statesman. Overall - not near as good as the blue note uncut store picks I have had, but it holds its own. Decent 40$ pick.

On the nose leather, nutmeg and a touch of sweet bread and oak. The palate is similar with wood, young apples, fall spices, and pie dough. Very sweet as well. A hit of hot pepper follows. Some astringency on the finish but it fades quickly and gives way to the the pepper which persists for quite a while.

Nose of toasted oak, cinnamon, slight umami, vanilla, almonds and fresh rye bread. After a while honey comes through. On the palate very smooth, sweet and lightly peppery. Tastes of vanilla, toasted oak, honey, black pepper, cinnamon and caramel apple. Slightly thin, but certainly a good whiskey.

Nose: Carmel mostly, slight ethanol burn Palate: Cinnamon, Carmel barrel spice Finish: Kentucky hug is long and lingers Overall: a decent to solid pour. My tasting was out of a fresh crack. I’ll come back to this one after it’s been open a while to see if it stretches it’s legs some.
