Blue Run Kentucky Straight Golden Rye (Batch #1)

Nose: a big whiff of spearmint, black pepper, honey and hints of vanilla - nice classic rye beginning Palate: a nice tart grannies Smith apple hits right away, immediately followed by pepper spice and spearmint - kind of thin mouthfeel, but still coats the mouth nicely Finish: you gets hints of orange peel and vanilla with some more of that spice - quick but pleasant Overall: I feel like this pretty classic and will not disappoint rye fans out there. That said, I think this has a fairly low rye percentage compared to others out there (somewhere in the 51-55% range)

Nose: the minty smells come in right away. Slight youth grain, homey and caramel. Palate: Spearmint and vanilla are the predominate flavors and a little disappointing with the lack of complexity and somewhat watered down. Finish: There is an earthy menthol flavor on the tongue that is strange and unfamiliar with other ryes.

Wow! Coming in at 95 proof this Rye is easy to drink. Wonderful sweetness followed by a lingering finish. This is not your dry run of the mill rye. This has a wonderful oak and maple syrup taste. Some hints of banana and cherries. A total different profile than cask strength rye.

Peppermint and baking spices on the nose. Palate is vegetal but subtle, then maple syrup and a hint of clove come in on the finish. Wish it lingered a little longer, but overall, this is a really nice, easygoing rye.

Sample from HKW. Neat. Nose is sweet with a slight ethanol hint. Sweet opening finished by slight burn as it passes back. Thin feeling. Medium finish. I like it but don’t think the price is justified.

This was not good. All three of my drinking buddies said it was bad and none of us liked it. There is an offputting taste to it. way over priced for how it tasted.
