To the Eye: A light(er) Amber color. When swirled in glencarin glass, the “legs” are smooth, and run down in slightly thick sheets. The Nose: Not a strong nosing. It took awhile to notice hints of grass, wheat grains. The Taste: Sweet & Spicy; which verifies what is imprinted on the back of the bottle: “A Meticulously Balanced Sweet And Spicy Bourbon”. Subsequent tastes begin to subtly reveal vanilla and impressions of warm, soft creamy bread with sweet cream butter. The Rye dances with the softer, sweet tastes upon the initial intakes of sips, but then the Rye darts to the roof & towards the back of my mouth, noticeably warming these areas of my mouth. The Finish: I’m left with the imprint of the Rye’s warmth in the back areas of my mouth. The spice and sweetness have since disappeared, and the soft warmth remains. All in all, a nice bourbon, but not at the $106.00 price. If your a collector, this might be one for the sake of its smoothness and “sweet & spicy” collaboration.

Sweet cola, chocolate, smooth, fades to viscous brown sugar, and nutty flavor. Slight rye in the finish very well balanced. Four roses influenced. Nov 8, 2024. Tasting this again in a while, side by side with a Wyoming whiskey NP edition, and I have to think this blend might contain some Wyoming whiskey. Thoughts? May 2, 2025 revisit Nose: chocolate is still there, kind of a corn cola Palette: sweet up front, worthers caramel, still nutty with rye baking soice finish. Very good!

Cost aside it is a wonderful bourbon. It is sweet, has a smooth finish, it gives you just long enough bite to make you feel it, but doesn’t punish you. However, I can get 2 bourbon bottles of a different brand, that is just as good, for the price of one of these. Strictly on tatse though it is a very good bourbon. I break it out for those who haven’t tried it, they usually fall in love with it, until they hear the price. I got it as a gift, I doubt I would buy this for myself.

N: baking spice, wheat or pumpernickel bread, some funk on the back-end of the nose P: some funk on the palate too, thin, maybe a bit of spearmint F: short , feel like it drinks under proof O: tastes so much different than my first pour of this bottle. I actually liked the first pour better as I’m a little underwhelmed this time around. Love the bottle design though (so does my wife).

Nose- Buttery oatmeal cookies Body- Flavors are light but mouthfeel is heavy. Butter and baking spices hang with you and are reminiscent of outmeal cookies. The missus says waffles. Finish- Oily finish, the buttery mouthfeel stays with you for a long time and eventually some grassy notes come through. This one grew on me but not sure about the price point.

Blind Test: Blue Run Reflection 1 Nose: caramel, very light, Taste: caramel, brown sugar, very sweet, but a little peppery spice as well. Finish: that caramel note really comes out in the finish, and fades to a peppery cinnamon. Overall: while not complex, this is very tasty and easy to drink. I’m guessing that the proof is in the 90’s. Score: 3.75/5
