Bottle 806 of 2650. Batch#23E1951 N: Toasted wood. Smells like it has been finished or cane from a special type of Barrel. The craftsmanship of the barrel drying process really shines through and I appreciate it. P: Roasted, toasted goodness! Lots of nice oakiness going a tad bitter at the end, but then pulls back and returns to a nice roasty finish. F: The kind of finish you can just sit with and enjoy. It hangs around for awhile and lets you bask in the roastiness with occasional cinnamon pops. This is a really amazing Bourbon!
Bomberger's Declaration (2023 Release)
About this bottle
This is the 2023 limited edition release from an annual series which honors the legacy of Bomberger's—a 19th century Kentucky distillery which became the Michter's brand in the 20th century. This edition is made with a percentage of malted rye in the mash bill. Under the direction of Michter's Master of Maturation, Andrea Wilson, it is partially matured in Chinquapin (Quercus muehlenbergii) oak that is air dried and seasoned for 3 years before it is roasted and charred. It is bottled at 108 proof.

Bomberger's Declaration 2023 Glass: Glencairn, rested 15 minutes. Color: Dark reddish amber. Nose: Cherry cola, oak and raisins. A hint of maple syrup. Palate: More cherry cola, cinnamon, and baking spice. Finish: Long with some oak tannins. Medium heat. Splash: No new flavors are revealed. Overall: 9/10 - Smooth and pleasant, with a great finish. It reminds me of Stagg, which is really saying something.
Neck pour Nose: seasoned oak, savory, musty, licorice, fruit note Palate: more seasoned oak, chocolate, savory note with a touch of spice as you swallow Finish: oak, bitter dark chocolate, espresso 8 on the t8ke scale
The ********* oak aging of Bombergers 2023 added some nice plum, cherry, vanilla, brown sugar, cookie dough, caramel, treacle, peanut, and butterscotch tasting notes.
Wasnt quite vanilla and caramel palette little more burnt butter. Little spice and hug on the finish but a good pour.
Notes pending but in short … buttery, very nice caramel, warming with longish finish and spice that coats palette.
