About this bottle

Scottish Gaelic for "pier," Bowmore Laimrig was named after the ancient stone pier near the distillery where harvested barley was unloaded and where the finished spirit would begin its export journey. This non-chill-filtered single malt ages for 15 years in Spanish sherry butts and is bottled at cask strength, so each release may vary slightly in ABV.

Holy crap! Props to Harry for opening the cabinet. This is way better than I expected. Absolutely something I'd buy in a heartbeat. Viscous, oily. Pleasant, soft smoke on the nose, rich caramel and mouth-coating buttery-ness on the tongue. I hesitate to say one of the best scotches I've ever tried, but it's up there!

Can't say enough about Bowmore. Yes, it's an Islay, but it's not in your face with the smoke. It's there, to be sure, but it doesn't punch you in the nose with it. The Sherry butts probably helped balance it out. Great tasting dram.

Probably more of a 4.5 stars to me. Different from the darkest edition, this one is ALL smoke and really salty. Loved it!

Nice bit of peat smoke but punching me enough that it still tastes young
