About this bottle
Brugal XV is a blend of three to eight year old rums. It was launched in 2012 and replaces the Brugal Extra Viejo. It's made with a combination of rum aged in ex-bourbon casks, and rum aged in ex-Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. The casks are the same which The Macallan uses, showcasing some synergy within The Edrington Group, after its 2008 acquisition of Brugal.

Not too fruity or thick. Close to a Bourbon. It mixes well but it is a little too bitter for drinking straight. It is possible though if you like that type of bitterness. The bitterness is along the lines of orange peels and tobacco as noted in the description. I havn't smoked cigars in a while but I imagine that this would go well with one.
Not one of my favorites....No sweetness at all...Tastes almost like a whiskey to me...Dry and has a pretty decent burn...Alcohol smell is prevalent on the nose for a rum at 37%abv...Fruity Woody and smoky... Makes a good mixed drink when added to something sweet...def not a sipper to me
Picked up a bottle in Puerta Plata airport recently for $15. Exceptional for the price, neat, over a ice cube or with ginger ale makes a great all round drink. Fruity and rich. Graham
Orange with a little honey sweetness. A quick hint of smoke that goes away extremly fast. Definite orange after taste.
40% version. Reminds me a lot of Doorly's XO, just a little thinner but still has a nice fruitiness.
