About this bottle

The Laddie Rye is a limited edition release from Bruichladdich. Technically an Islay Single Grain Scotch Whisky, it’s made from a mash bill of Islay-grown rye and malting barley — all sourced within 11 miles of the distillery. The whisky was aged for 7 years in a combination of first-fill bourbon barrels and first-fill virgin American oak barrels that were toasted rather than charred. It is bottled at 50% ABV and is released without chill-filtration or added color. The Laddie Rye is exclusive to the US with limited availability beginning November 2025. (SRP $59.99)

Nose: Lots of citrus paired with spices. Some anise comes through along with pine. There's an ocean saltiness, as well, contrasted with some darker sugars. Pallette: More citrus, especially lemon and orange peel. Baking spice is there. The dark sugars on the nose turn to a confectionary sweetness. There is fig present with a little bitterness Finish: Clove comes through very strong on the finish. A little black pepper and brininess. The bitter notes carry to the finish, but turn to more floral notes on the back half. Overall: Really quite excellent. Worth the money and I will buy at least two backups.
