Michter's US*1 Barrel Strength Kentucky Straight Rye (2022 Release)

Lucky to be tasting this. My first barrel strength rye. Beautiful amber color leaving nice legs. Tried neat. On the nares its spicy with notes of nutmeg, clove, spearmint, caramel, green apples, black cherries. On the palate.. whoa boy is this hot initially with a strong numbing sensation following the Kentucky chew and a long burning Kentucky hug. After a few more hugs, I get notes of spearmint, spice, brown sugar, cinnamon, clove, and lemon zest leaving a longing heat, that is the perfect amount, causing you to crave your next sip. The finish is tangy and spicy. 😋… will update my review with 3 drops of water added soon. Standby by and until then and until then enjoy the burnnnn

INose- Cherry danish and toasty oak. The more it sits it gives up milk chocolate. Palate- The wonderful nose carries forward and some spice is added on the back end. Finish- wonderful finish. Sweet but not cloying. Oaky but not drying. This is a great Kentucky Rye. Overall- Stood up side by side 2021 Thomas Handy and tasted blind. This won 3/3 times for me. It needed absolutely nothing. This is my favorite Michters barrel proof rye in the last 4 years. May have been an exceptional barrel.....but hell yes, On this one!

Nose - rich, dates and dark rye spice Taste - more dark fruity carmel, rich and spicy with a bourbon feel to it. Spicey turns into a numb that last more than 20 seconds. This i a great rye, and I would say a bourbon lovers rye.

Sweet green grape, french toast and grapefruit nose with a grapefruit, raw vanilla and green grape. Long toasted green grape barrel finish.

I don’t know if there’s a 5 star rye but this is hands down the best Rye I’ve had.
