Glass: Glencairn, rested 15 minutes. Color: Medium amber. Nose: Caramel apple with a touch of graham cracker. Palate: Cinnamon red hots that coat the toungue. Finish: Pleasantly long and very warm. Splash: Notes of clove and baking spice appear. Ice: Some vegetal notes appear when poured over a large ice sphere. Overall: 9.5/10 - This release gets a lot of hype and for good reason. The finish just won’t quit, even on the rocks. I’d put this up against more expensive ryes any day of the week.

The fresh crack neck pour was pretty good. Hoping the flavors open up and develop some more with air time. I would still honestly say my JD barrel proof rye is better at half the cost. (4 stars) Edit: this one opened up wonderfully and developed a viscous feel. It now far surpasses my best jdbp rye. Easily the best barrel proof rye on the market. Well done Michter’s!
As good if not better than the bottle I had in 2012. This stuff is great. Even though the price has nearly doubled.
Dusty apple cinnamon nose. Dense, tannic rye. Dark fruit leather. Long warming, buttery finish.
