Pastry-like nose lacks a little power and nuance, but does show some salt hints. Palate is mainly salt and ocean with a touch of golden fruit. Finish is quite long with lingering peat. This doesn’t do much for me.
About this bottle
The Sixteens was a collection of whiskies with different types of cask maturation; the whiskies were naturally 16 years old. This bottling was aged for 16 years in barrels which previously held Jim Beam Bourbon. The whisky was then recasked in to barrels which formerly held Buffalo Trace Bourbon. The whisky is bottled at 46% ABV.

Bourbon richness shows it’s self in this dram more than any other Laddie I’ve tried. That’s not to say that the Bruichladdich character doesn’t show through, it does.
Strong starting punch due to 46% Alc/Vol with a very smooth finish. Mildy piety.
Fantastic. Smooth finish islay. Peat + bourbon = amazing
Favorite islay scotch to date.
